Negligent Prescription and Monitoring of Medication

Tommy Hastings handled this case in which the Plaintiff was temporarily prescribed Amiodarone to regulate her heart rhythm after recovering from a cardiac ablation procedure. The medication was intended to be prescribed for the short term. Unfortunately, the surgeon’s office never told the client to stop taking the medication and continued to refill it by phone for the next three years. Over time, the medication caused the client to develop pulmonary fibrosis, a severe and eventually fatal lung condition. The case was settled prior to trial for an amount that provided for the client’s medical and custodial care needs for several years.
