Failure to Recognize an Esophageal Perforation

Gabe Sassin represented a wife who lost her husband after a major Alabama hospital and its general surgeon failed to timely recognize the signs and symptoms of an esophageal perforation following hernia repair surgery. Despite the patient presenting with symptoms of this life-threatening complication, the perforation went undetected, and he died two days later from resulting complications. The case resolved before trial for a confidential settlement amount.
