Wheelchair Fall
Tommy Hastings handled this nursing home negligence case. The resident was placed upright in a wheelchair without the proper safety equipment. She was then left alone by the staff. She was found face first on the floor, but the staff did not notify a physician for over six hours about the fall. The resident suffered a cerebral hematoma and broken clavicle. She died as a result of her injuries within a month. The case settled for a confidential amount and one of the nurses involved agreed to surrender her license to the State Board of Nursing.
