The medication was intended to be prescribed for the short term.  Unfortunately, the surgeon\u2019s office never told the client to stop taking the medication and continued to refill it by phone for the next three years.  Over time, the medication caused the client to develop pulmonary fibrosis, a severe and eventually fatal lung condition.
